    Eurodiaconia also provides a platform for transnational networking and best practice sharing.

Ageing in Europe: discovering and defining scopes in Central and Eastern Europe

From the 5th - 9th of November in Berlin, DWEKD is organising a Consultation on Ageing in Europe. The Consultation will focus on discovering and defining scopes for social services for elderly people, dementia, family relationships, neighbourhood concepts in Central and Eastern Europe.

The conference will be held in German, English and Russian and the regitration fee varies between 199 euro (without accommodation) - 399 euro (including a single room). International Congress on the Future of Nursing and Long-term Care

From 10-13 May 2012, the Luxembourg government will organize an international congress on the future of nursing and long-term care.  The congress is organized in collaboration with the International Orem Society for Nursing Science and Scholarship, who are one of the leading scientific societies of nursing theory.

This will be Luxemburg’s major event towards the European Year of Active Ageing and the congress is expected to attract around 500 delegates from all over the world.  The Congress will focus on:

  • Design and financing in long-term care
  • Latest trends in self-care nursing theory
  • Innovations in integrated care deliveries
  • HTA (Health Technology Assessment) and its impact on long-term care
  • Nursing Ethics

Invitation - We CARE, how can EU CARE? Social Platform annual conference

Eurodiaconia would like to extend the invitation of the Social Platform to its annual conference to Eurodiaconia members. The conference will take place in Brussels on the 9th December and will focus on care policy. The conference is based around the Platform's vision of care, its recommendations, to which Eurodiaconia contributed as a member of the Platform.

Various panel discussions and debates with the audience will examine promoting quality jobs in care, facilitating  the work-life-care balance, investing in quality services and rights of care users.

Invitation to Czech government Capacity-building Training Programme on Ageing

The  Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic in co-operation with the United Nations International Institute on Ageing and the UNECE Working Group on Ageing would like to invite relevant stakeholders to a Capacity-building Training Programme – „Addressing Current Social and Health Issues in Ageing“, which will be held from 3rd to 7th October 2011 in Prague.

The training workshop will include topics such as:

  • Social policy, current challenges for social and health systems
  • Models of financing/delivering of long term care community services
  • Health needs and potential of seniors, disability, frailty and healthy ageing,
  • Policies and measures to support informal careers
  • Population Ageing –its nature, mechanics and causality
  • Antidiscrimination, advocacy and media
