Call for project proposals: Action grants for combating discrimination and promoting equality |

The European Commission has published a call for proposals under the PROGRESS programme -Antidiscrimination and Diversity "Action grants" 2012. Please note this is a call principally for National authorities in charge of equality and non discrimination but private not-for- profit organisations can be mandated by the national authorities to carry out the activities. Please note also that activities aiming to raise awareness of the situation of Roma and supporting their integration into mainstream society is a priority topic.
Types of eligible activities
• Training activities in the non discrimination field.
• Identification, analysis, promotion and dissemination of good practices on non-discrimination.
• Organisation of awareness raising events on equality issues, including diversity awards.
• Carrying out studies or surveys at national level aiming at a better understanding of the phenomenon of discrimination and the situation of discriminated groups especially on the labour market (ethnic minorities, young and older people, disabled people, LGBT people, religious minorities)

Calls for projects under Europe for Citizens programme |

A call has been sent out for projects under Europe for Citizens which might be of interest to Eurodiaconia members.
The general priorities of the programme for 2012 focus on two broad axes:
On one hand, the promotion of European citizenship and democracy, including developing the understanding of the EU, its values and what it brings to citizens' daily lives;
on the other hand, feeding the direct and current interest of citizens into the European political agenda.
- Measure 2.1. Citizens’ projects (page 39 of the programme guide): aims at exploring innovative methodologies and approaches to encourage citizens' active participation at European level and to stimulate the dialogue between European citizens and European institutions.
Eligibility: Local authorities or civil society organisations (CSOs) (for definition see p.60 of programme guide) At least 5 participating countries Project must involve a minimum of 200 participants
Deadline for application is June 1, 2012.
Projects must start between 1st December 2012 and 31st May 2013.
The co-funding requirement is 40% for the Measure 2.1.

Call for Proposals: Advancing Roma Inclusion Through Arts & Culture |

The Open Society Arts and Culture Program announces a call for proposals for projects to advance the social inclusion of Roma in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
The aim of this call for proposals is to advance the social inclusion of Roma by supporting initiatives that strengthen alternative and autonomous cultural infrastructures and innovative arts initiatives, raise professional standards in the art world in the Arts and Culture Program’s regions of activity, and promote reform in the arena of cultural policy.
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis through December 31, 2012. Read more here

Call for proposals: Social Experimentation projects |

The European Commission has launched a call for large-scale transnational projects testing socially innovative approaches to four priority areas.
Social inclusion of vulnerable groups, such as Roma people, migrants and their descendants, homeless and young people.
Quality of childcare services: this has great impacts on child well-being, but also gender equality, poverty in jobless households, employment rates, birth rates and on long term sustainable development by supporting the development of human potential.
Active and healthy ageing: this depends on various factors, such as life habits, working conditions or urban policies and represents a major condition in order to extend working lives and to reduce social protection expenditures.
Transition from education to work for the youth as only a multidimensional policy approach combining actions on the education framework, the labour market, families can be successful.
Although the applicant must be a public authority/semi-state agency NGOs can be among the partners so Eurodiaconia members interested in the call could contact a public authority to suggest they apply.

Call for applications: Roma Policy Research Fellowship |

The Open Society Think Tank Fund and the Open Society Roma Initiatives announce the Roma Policy Research Fellowship for young Roma BA, MA and PhD graduates from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, and Slovakia.
