• Our work

Eurodiaconia links diaconal actors to examine social needs, develop ideas and influence policies impacting Poverty and Social Exclusion, Social and Health Care Services and the Future of Social Europe.

Eurodiaconia also provides a platform for transnational networking and best practice sharing.

  • Our vision

As the leading network for diaconal work in Europe, we look to develop dialogue and partnership between members and influence and engage with the wider society.  We do this to enable inclusion, care and empowerment of the most vulnerable and excluded and ensure dignity for all.

  • Our goals

We aim to see a positive social change in Europe through:

Praxis, enabling membership engagement and partnerships

Advocacy, creating a network of competence to impact policies at European and national level

Identity and values, supporting the development of approaches and thinking on Diaconia in Europe today

Our methodology

In order to further develop our praxis, advocacy and diaconal identity, Eurodiaconia uses different methods. One of our main tools to enable our three goals is our special interest networks. Through our networks we bring together the expertise of our members, partners and external experts, equipping our members so they can impact social policies. We also have a Faith in Social Care network where we provide a platform for reflection on Diaconia in Europe today. Currently,  we have eight different networks that meet face-face once or twice a year and one virtual communications network. In order to facilitate on-going work, we support our networks with online fora where members can continue to exchange their expertise on a certain topic. To keep our members up-to-date with the most recent news, each network member also receives a monthly network newsletter.

Another major activity when we develop praxis, advocacy and our diaconal identity is during our Annual General Meeting which is hosted by one of our members each April or May. Besides our business session, we organise workshops, panel discussions and study visits encouraging mutual learning and exchange of experiences. Besides the AGM and networks, we also organise study visits, seminars, round table discussions and conferences to support our members in the work that they do. Please keep on eye on our calendar the homepage to keep track of our upcoming events. If you would like to read our calendar of events for 2011, please download it here.
