• Our work

Eurodiaconia links diaconal actors to examine social needs, develop ideas and influence policies impacting Poverty and Social Exclusion, Social and Health Care Services and the Future of Social Europe.

Eurodiaconia also provides a platform for transnational networking and best practice sharing.

  • Our vision

As the leading network for diaconal work in Europe, we look to develop dialogue and partnership between members and influence and engage with the wider society.  We do this to enable inclusion, care and empowerment of the most vulnerable and excluded and ensure dignity for all.

  • Our goals

We aim to see a positive social change in Europe through:

Praxis, enabling membership engagement and partnerships

Advocacy, creating a network of competence to impact policies at European and national level

Identity and values, supporting the development of approaches and thinking on Diaconia in Europe today

The 2010 Eurodiaconia Award

In honour of the 2010 European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, the 2010 Eurodiaconia Award will recognise diaconal projects and services that contribute to reducing poverty and promoting social inclusion in Europe.

Sharing concrete examples of effective diaconal projects helps further the work of diaconia by:
* Inspiring diaconal organisations in other countries with new ideas for serving people in need with dignity, respect and hospitality.

* Raising the profile of diaconia among government decision makers and showcasing the expertise of diaconal organisations in combating poverty and social exclusion. This in turn supports diaconal advocacy work to prevent and reduce situations of need and marginalisation.

* Strengthening diaconia throughout Europe by demonstrating the range and reach of diaconal work throughout the continent.

Any Eurodiaconia member organisation, or member or affiliate of a central/national organisation belonging to Eurodiaconia, could enter a project or service. Entries were accepted between 12 October 2009 and 5 March 2010. Click  below to download:
