In 2016, our Serbian member Ekumenska Humanitarna Organizacija-EHO’s appeal for assisting refugees and migrants in Greece and Serbia received a consistent financial support by the German Federal Republic – German Federal Foreign Office.

The project was implemented in partnership with Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe and lasted until the 31st of December. It included the distribution of 82,170 meals and 7,900 clothes and footwears, the opening of new medical clinics which assisted more than 6,000 patients, as well as washing and dry cleaning stations in the reception centres in Sid, Adaševci, Principovac, Subotica and Sombor.

The project has also provided EHO with the necessary funds for structural investments, such as the renovation and equipping of the Adaševci reception centre’s kitchen. The new equipment will give EHO the possibility to prepare up to 6,000 meals per day for three reception centres in Serbia.

In this way, our member in Serbia continues supporting the Republic of Serbia in its efforts to provide adequate and effective humanitarian assistance to refugees and migrants in its territory, as well as confirming its role as one of the leading NGO’s in the country.

EHO’s appeal for assistance to refugees and migrants, which collected 1.8 million of Euros in 2016, will continue in 2017.
