The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) has just launched its report titled “Overlooked: Migrant Workers in the COVID-19 Crisis“.

The document highlights the unfair working and living conditions and the multitude of very serious problems many migrant workers – and particularly undocumented migrants – are facing in the context of the Covid-19 crisis. These include but are not limited to sub-standard working and employment conditions, unequal access to sick pay or unemployment and social benefits, low-health and low-safety work environments, harder access to public healthcare and housing, as well as to residence and work permits.

In conclusion, the organisation urges the European institutions and national governments to introduce the necessary measures to protect migrant workers and provides references to initiatives taken by national unions and European trade union federations in this area.
