The European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) contains 20 principles and rights to support fair and well-functioning labour markets, structured around three chapters:
- equal opportunities and access to the labour market,
- fair working conditions,
- social protection and inclusion
All EU institutions and member states have made a commitment to implement these 20 principles and to make the inherent social rights a reality for all.
The European Commission has launched a public consultation on an Action Plan to implement the EPSR which is open until 30th November. As many of the tools to deliver on the ESPR are in the hands of member states, as well as social partners and civil society, Eurodiaconia will be working with members to determine how we can play our part in making the full implementation of the EPSR a reality, and what our priorities should be.
Therefore, we will be holding an online meeting on 10th September in which we will provide more background on the European Pillar of Social Rights and its use as a policy tool, including its relationship with the European Semester, the Green Deal, the SDGs and Agenda 2030, as well as providing a chance to bring members together to discuss our draft response to the Commission consultation on the Action Plan.
