On 5th December 2017, Eurodiaconia will host an event on “The Role of Social Inclusion in Preventing Radicalisation”, which will take place in the European Parliament, hosted by MEP Sabine Verheyen.

Extreme right-wing politics and populism are on the rise in Europe. In many member states of the European Union there are attacks on refugee accommodations and hostilities against refugees as well as on people helping them. Far-right rhetoric is fueling hatred, discrimination and intolerance. This kind of movement is growing stronger partly because it is not affiliated with the traditional neo-Nazi/far-right scene but presents itself to be a part of a new “centrist” movement.

This event, organised by Eurodiaconia and hosted in the European Parliament, presents projects from Eurodiaconia members that are trying to counter political radicalisation. It wants to bring together representatives of these projects and participants with political decision makers to exchange their views, political approaches and best practices. Through dialogue and exchange the event offers a platform to learn from each other’s experiences in Europe and to discuss innovative approaches that will be necessary to future actions. Please register through this registration form. For more information please get in touch with our Policy, Projects & Research Officer Florian at florian.tuder@eurodiaconia.org.
