Early this month, our Italian member Diaconia Valdese, in cooperation with the Municipality of Campi Bisenzio, and the home improvement and gardening retailer Leroy Merlin, inaugurated a DIY solidarity-store in the Florence county.

The store gives families in the Florence County area the chance to borrow home and gardening tools to carry out small rebuilding or gardening works. The tools available in the store range from ladders to paints, from light bulbs to mowers. Families are asked to volunteer for some Diaconia Valdese’s activities in exchange.

The solidarity-store is hosted by the La Casa delle Viole, a community home for youth 18-21, and it is aimed at developing an environmental-friendly culture, as well as to encourage people to volunteer in their local communities
