Our member from Latvia, Diakonija Latvijā (Diaconia Latvia) is spreading the work about its forthcoming training for clerical staff. The series of training, run through the Mercy School, will be available to members of the Evangelical Lutheran congregations, as well as those already working in the field of social service provision. The programme will focus on providing targeted care to a wide range of groups; including the sick, the elderly, orphans, people in prison, in hospitals or in other institutions or residences. The first meeting will be a seminar hosted by Evangelical Lutheran Archbishop Janis Vanags, titled “Call to Service in the Church of Christ.” Further topics planned for the training include themes relating to service and spiritual life.

The first meeting is scheduled for 4th March and will continue in April and May, and the venue will be confirmed depending on the number of interested participants. Applications remain open until 1st March, and can be found through the application form.

As well as the training for clerical staff, Diakonija Latvijā is also spreading the word about its Summer School, which will take place between 25th and 27th August this year.

Our Latvian members are encouraging anyone interested to submit applications, and to learn more about the summer school and training via the website.
