Our member Diaconia of the Evangelical Church of the Czech Brethren collects Christmas gifts for children from low-income households
The campaign ‘donate a shoebox’ is the largest collection of Christmas gifts for children from low-income households in the Czech Republic organised by our member Diaconia of the Evangelical Church of the Czech Brethren. It is also the only nationwide collection where the recipients and donors are children.
The collection is organized in cooperation with hundreds of volunteers at collection points. Last year, donors donated 48,000 gifts. The project has a two goals: to give children from lower-income households a nice Christmas present, and to teach children from well-off families about solidarity. An accompanying fundraising campaign secured 8,000,000 crowns for long-term help to families and children in need.
