EYCE training 0915From 6 to 13 September 2015, 17 young people, from all around Europe and from different religious and educational backgrounds, gathered for the training course “Faces of Poverty: training course addressing poverty in the context of migration” organised by the Ecumenical Youth Centre in Europe (EYCE) which took place in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Among the external speakers that contributed to this event, Nicolas Derobert, who is the policy officer on migration and freedom of movement at Eurodiaconia, introduced the participants to the various political and social challenges migrants and asylum seekers face as they try to access and settle in the Member States of the European Union, particularly in the light of the current debate about the “Refugee crisis”.

He also provided examples of members’ good practices regarding reception, social assistance, integration, advocacy work and media campaigns in the field of migration.
