Earlier this month, our partner EuroHealthNet released a new video called “1,000 lifechanging days”, exploring the effects of social, emotional, and physical environments during the first three years of life on long-term health and wellbeing.
The clip looks at the actions needed to create solid foundations for later in life: children need a healthy environment to become healthy adults. The video was released in partnership with the EU Alliance for Investing in Children, of which Eurodiaconia is an active member. The Alliance brings together over 20 European networks sharing a commitment to ending child poverty and to promoting child well-being across Europe.
At Eurodiaconia, our members work to provide a secure and healthy environment for children and ensure their dignity. They provide a wide range of child-related services, including family support centres, children homes, youth work services, after-school programmes, child protection, and many more.
Yet, not all children have the same opportunity to grow and thrive. According to recent findings from the European Commission, 62.9% of children whose parents are in low-skilled jobs are at risk of poverty and social exclusion. The same is also true for more than a third of children from Third Country Nationals. Against this context, Eurodiaconia hosted in June 2019 its first webinar on the social inclusion of children in migration, reflecting on the most pressing challenges faced by migrant children and youth.
