We are pleased to invite you to the first “Urban Areas” Network Meeting hosted by our member The Church City Mission in Oslo from 09-10 October 2019. The two-day event will focus on the challenges of social exclusion in urban areas of young people and the prevention of radicalisation leading to violence. The issue of violent extremism is still high up on the European political agenda – however it is not always addressed from a holistic perspective. Eurodiaconia members are often tackling the Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE) from a social inclusion angle and we would like to build a network where we can show and influence policy-makers of the need to invest in diaconal work to address PVE (and other topics in the future). We are happy to confirm that Linda Noor, Director of MINOTENK and a vital person to the public debate on Extremism in Norway; Robert Örell, former director of Exit Sweden and Birte Nordahl (Street minister and Head of Tøyen Church, currently doing research on the July 22 terrorist attack in Oslo 2011) will be speakers at our conference. To know more about this event please check the invitation and draft agenda. Please register through this online form by 24th September 2019 at the latest. If you have any questions, please contact our Policy & Membership Development Officer Stefan Kitzmann at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please forward to anyone in your membership who might be interested.
