To which extend do you think will the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) influence social policies in the EU and effectively improve the everyday life of EU citizens?
The EPSR will have a clear and positive impact on social standards across the whole EU. Through the European Semester, the EPSR will be translated into tangible and targeted reform efforts at national level.
The EPSR will incentivize some Member States to increase social standards. However, it will not be able to promote upwards social convergence across the EU, as other Member States will choose to disregard it.
The EPSR will have a purely symbolic value. Due to its non-binding nature, it lacks the power to steer social policy reform at national level.
