The European Commission recently published several calls for proposals to support projects which foster inclusion of migrants in European societies but also to combat increasing xenophobia and racism.
The calls respond to an urgent matter and provide generous financial support to respond in a timely manner to these social challenges on a European level.
The calls are just a reaction to challenges which are known for a long time and should have been addressed before they became urgent. The Commission needs to anticipate and act proactively, not just react.
The calls are only accessible for very skilled organisations. Local organisations struggle with co-financing and reporting rules. The Commission should offer financial support for smaller projects and offer more capacity-building.
