From 28-29 May Eurodiaconia held its Basic EU-Funding and Project Management Training in Bratislava, hosted by its member Evanjelicka diakonia ECAV na Slovensku. 11 participants from 6 European countries participated in the two-day long training.
The first day focussed on international project management and invited participants to assess their previous experience in this field especially looking at these skills in the framework of EU-Funding. Eurodiaconia’s Projects Officer Florian Tuder introduced the use of the Project Cycle Management and Logical Framework Matrix in order to enhance participants’ knowledge in this field. A city tour through the old town of Bratislava and a common dinner concluded the first day.
The second day focussed on the current Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF; the EU-Budget) and the different funding programmes that can be interesting for diaconal organisations. The training focussed both, on funds that are managed on a national level and on a European level and how the different programmes need to be approached. Erasmus+, the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), the European Social Fund (ESF) or the Rights, Equality and Citizenship programme (REC) were some of the funding opportunities presented. The training also offered insights into how Calls for Proposals for EU funded projects can be found and assessed as well as some practical tips and tricks about how to increase the success rate when applying for EU-funds. The event ended with an outlook to the post-2020 MFF, the proposals for upcoming funding programmes and lunch at the Centre of the Evangelical Diaconia Bratislava.
