The Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME) is putting together a project to be submitted under the AMIF programme to support the integration of resettled and relocated refugees. Eurodiaconia will likely be a partner in this project but CCME would welcome possible partners from Diaconal organisations in Europe. The current outline of the project is as follows:

Idea: discuss and collect best practice from different NGOs/churches in older and more recent EU member states for better practice, prepare local actors for reception

Duration: 24 months: 1 October 2017-30 September 2019

Underlying logic: faith based organisation have a unique chance for local integration as they are part of local communities

Partner so far: AIDRom Romania, SOZE Czech rep., Lutheran church Estonia, reformed Church/Kalumba Hungary, Diakonie Austria, Diakonie Germany

Planned activities

  • national meeting with NGOs, churches, government on experiences with integration so far -> national report
  • look and learn meetings: each country is visited by delegation from all other partners, hosting partner presents what went well and what did not work
  • three European workshops: best practice on special issues (subjects suggested: 1. Housing and settlement 2. Skills training and labour market integration 3. Mobilising host communities)
  • follow up of 5 cases by each partner
  • compilation of a handbook with general principles and practical examples, including case studies

If your organisation would be interested in being a partner in this project please contact Mr. Torsten Moritz at torsten.moritz@ccme.be at CCME as soon as possible: the deadline for project applications is 28 February, 2017.
