Early last month, Hjálparstarf kirkjunnar (The Icelandic Church Aid) with the support of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, contributed USD 161.000 to the appeal NPL151 for reconstruction in Nepal, following the earthquake that struck the country last April. The projects are managed by the Danish Church Aid and ACT Alliance, and provide Nepalis clean water and sanitation, health centres, shelters, trauma counselling and psychological support.
Similarly, Hjálparstarf kirkjunnar donated USD 178.600 to the appeal SYR161 for Syrian refugees. International Orthodox Christian Charities is active with different projects in Syria, Jordan and Lebanon providing shelters, food and health care for people in refugee camps.
