The Interreg Euro-MED is a European territorial cooperation programme on an international scale. Its general objective is defined by the word cooperation, based on a regional, transnational and European approach. The Programme brings together partners from 69 regions of 14 countries from the Northern shore of the Mediterranean. For the first time after two previous iterations of the Programme, Interreg Euro-MED is now extended up to the Black sea regions: indeed, a substantial enlargement was approved in this Programme cycle: two new countries (Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia), as well as three new Spanish regions (Castilla la Mancha, Extremadura, and Madrid) were added to the eligible zone.
The principal objective of the programme consists of contributing to a transition towards a climate-neutral and sustainable society: fighting against the impact of global changes on Mediterranean resources, whilst ensuring sustainable growth and the well-being of citizens. The call is targeted to thematic projects focused on the “Smarter and Greener Mediterranean” Programme priorities and their related specific objectives:
1. Smarter Mediterranean:
- 1 “Developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies”.
- Greener Mediterranean:
- 6 “Promoting the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy”,
- 4 “Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, resilience, taking into account eco-system-based approaches”,
- 7 “Enhancing protection and conservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure including in urban areas and reducing all forms of pollution”
The call addresses 3 types of projects: study, test and transfer projects. For this reason, the candidates must choose one mission to focus their project on.
The deadline for applications is the 27th of October 2022.
