Our member in Romania, Episcopal Reformata Din Ardeal (the Reformed Diocese of Transylvania), celebrates the success of its first craft event for families.

On July 23rd, the first craft event bringing together young children and their parents drew to a close for our Romanian members. The event days on 19th and 23rd July drew families from neighborhoods around the Cluj-Napoca area, and involved a varied program with activities and crafts for children. One of the aims of the event was to bring together children from different backgrounds and families, but also from different age groups, and over 80 elderly people and members of local congregations helped during the camp along with children and their parents.

During the craft events, besides getting acquainted with team-building games, there was also an art and craft activity every day; including felting, wood carving, beading, shield making, painting and drawing. Children and adults could also join in with water polo, tractor rides and climbing. Cluj has a significant Hungarian-speaking population, and our Romanian member in Transylvania is part of a Hungarian minority speaking church. Therefore, the children’s camp also put on Romanian lessons for children to raise awareness of multilingualism in the region.

The daily program was intended to get young people to use their imaginations, mix with others from among the community, and to enjoy activities whilst hearing from pastors and other members of the Church in the Cluj-Napoca area.

You can hear more about the craft events on our Romanian member’s website.
