The European Commission has released its latest FEAD implementation reports which include developments and information as reported in the 2018 Annual Implementation Reports, submitted by Member States in 2019. However, the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak is not reflected.
Although in 2018 the proportion of people at risk of poverty or social exclusion fell for the sixth consecutive year and severe material deprivation dropped to a share of 5.9% of the EU population, the EU 2020 target of at least 20 million people fewer at risk of poverty or social exclusion is far from being achieved. Furthermore, children face a substantially higher poverty risk, with children of low skilled parents being particularly affected, and the rising trend of people suffering from housing exclusion and homelessness has not been reversed. Against this backdrop, the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD) addresses the worst forms of poverty in the EU, such as food deprivation, child poverty and homelessness.
