Eurodiaconia is pleased to invite you to attend the 3rd edition of its annual breakfast debate on EU social policy, to be held at the Thon Hotel EU in Brussels, Rue de la Loi 75, on 27 September 2016 from 8 – 10am.

On 8 March 2016, the European Commission launched the European Pillar of Social Rights as a response to the aftermath of the financial crisis, rising poverty and a changing labour market. It represents a key initiative for stakeholders working in the social field, setting out priorities for future social action.

In the light of the ongoing consultation on the Pillar, the annual breakfast event will focus on the Pillar’s potential to strengthen social protection. It will bundle observations and insights from three perspectives: local, national and European. Speakers representing different political levels will outline central challenges for current social protection systems, and assess to what extent the current outline of the Pillar can help address these challenges effectively.
