The Spencer Foundation: Conference Grants
The Spencer Foundation has been a leading funder of education research since 1971 and is the only national foundation focused exclusively on supporting education research. Their goals are:
- Invest in education research that is transformative, methodologically rigorous, and helps create a better society.
- Support high-quality education research training.
- Broaden the diversity of scholars and scholarship in education research.
- Strengthen the impact of education research for improving educational practice.
- Make education research more accessible to public audiences.
Conference Grant Program
The Conference Grant Program provides support to scholars to organize small research conferences, focused symposia, or other forms of convenings around important issues in education research. This program is intended to bring together researchers, community members, practitioners, policymakers, and other important collaborators whose expertise, substantive knowledge and practice, theoretical insight, or methodological expertise can be engaged in ways that help to build upon and advance education research. This grant program supports proposals with budgets of $50,000 or less. The Foundation rotates the area of focus for this program annually to generate fresh ideas and perspectives on pressing educational challenges. For this funding cycle, Spencer will support conferences related to the topic of critical and innovative methodological needs and advancements in the service of education research that advances racial equity.

Visegrad Fund
The International Visegrad Fund supports regional cooperation between civil society organizations to advance their relations, exchange and share ideas and promote mutual understanding. When promoting European values in Central Europe, they work together towards a better-connected future. Their vision is a Central Europe with full understanding of its shared history and the necessity of mutual respect and cooperation towards a better future in the broader European context. The Fund’s annual budget is 10 million € provided by equal contributions of the V4 governments. On ad hoc basis, the Fund also administers financial contributions from third countries dedicated to Visegrad+ projects.
Geographical area: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia
Visegrad Grants
Visegrad grants support regional partnerships among NGOs and civil society organizations, public institutions and municipalities, private companies and nonprofit organizations as well as education and research centers that contribute to cooperation in the Visegrad region.
The projects must develop meaningful cooperation and active participation of organizations from at least three V4 countries. Bilateral cross-border cooperation of at least 2 organizations from 2 neighbouring V4 countries also qualify for support with projects taking place within a 40-km radius from the border and focusing on a local issue. The maximum duration of project implementation is 18 months. The Grants can cover up to 100% of project budget with 15% for overheads. Projects must address at least one of the objectives of the grant program´s seven focus areas:
- Culture and Common Identity
- Education and Capacity Building
- Innovation, R&D, Entrepreneurship
- Democratic Values and the Media
- Public Policy and Institutional Partnership
- Regional Development, Environment and Tourism
- Social Development

Strategic Grants
Strategic Grants support project addressing annual strategic priorities of the Visegrad Group. Strategic priorities are announced annually by the V4 country holding the rotating presidency over the group, which from July 2021 to June 2022 is Hungary.
The projects must develop meaningful cooperation and ensure active participation of organizations from all V4 countries. The maximum duration of projects is 36 months, the minimum is 12 months. The grants cover up to 100% of project budget with 15% for overheads. Projects must clearly address one of the annual strategic priorities of the Visegrad Group:
- Research, development and innovation; digitalisation
- Post-COVID Recovery
- Challenges and perspectives of the young generation in the Visegrad regio
