Our Danish member Kirkens Korshaer has partnered with a local food delivery website Hungry.dk to donate free pizzas to homeless people.
Every time a customer orders pizza from the website they are given the option to donate a little something to Kirkens Korshaer’s social service initiatives. This time meals were provided for about 50 people living in our member’s facility in Slagelse. The staff took all the necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of the residents.
Hanne Merete Pedersen from Kirkens Korshaer said “Our beneficiaries love it when there is pizza on the menu. It is a flash of light in a busy everyday life and they are grateful that there are people who think of them. Of course, we follow the current sanitary restrictions and we serve the pizzas in a way that enables effective social distancing.” She also added that so far they have not had any cases of COVID but if need be they have arranged special rooms for quarantine.
The latest figures from the National Research and Analysis Center for Welfare show that in 2019 there are a little more than 6,400 people in Denmark.
