Last month, the European Platform for Investing in Children (EPIC) published its second annual thematic report on child and family policy developments in Europe.

EPIC is an evidence-based online platform that provides information about policies that can help children and their families face the challenges that exist in the current economic climate in Europe. The report outlines and summarises new policy developments in the area of child and family policy in the 28 EU Member States (EU28), and reports on progress on policies and activities initiated in earlier years.

Eurodiaconia welcomes this publication and its emphasis on child well-being across the EU, with a reflection on key challenges remaining. The report is aligned with the three pillars of the 2013 Recommendation ‘Investing in Children: breaking the cycle of disadvantage’ and is also guided by recent developments related to the European Pillar of Social Rights.

Eurodiaconia’s members are particularly active towards the social integration and support to vulnerable children (including children with disabilities, children with a migrant or Roma background), providing parental support, access to education, emergency aid and quality social services to families in need.

At European level, Eurodiaconia actively follows EU policies on child and family developments and advocates social justice. This summer, Eurodiaconia hosted its first webinar on the social inclusion of children in migration, which provided an overview of the most pressing challenges and problems experienced by migrant children.
