The Free Churches Group’s reports on ‘The Church and Social Cohesion: Connecting Communities and Serving People’ and ‘How to Booklets’ outline key assets that churches possess – including buildings, social networks, volunteers and vision – and describe how these can be maximised to foster social cohesion.

The studies reflect how churches work together with other faith-based and secular organisations, and how they can collaborate further. Moreover, the reports recommend that churches should tailor their engagement to their respective local community, and provide services for the whole community, taking special care to promote inclusion and diversity in their spaces.

The documents also offer several practical recommendations for how both churches and policymakers can maximize the churches’ potential to foster social cohesion in the community.
