Eurodiaconia is proud to announce that we have joined Social Economy Europe and we very much look forward to learning and contributing from all the other leading voices driving the social economy in Europe.
Eurodiaconia’s application for membership has been discussed and approved this morning during the Social Economy Europe General Assembly.
Social Economy Europe represents the interests of 2.8 million social economy enterprises and organisations in the European Union so that the main EU policies promote and take into account this business model. Founded in 2000, under the name of CEP-CMAF-European Standing Conference of Cooperatives, Mutuals, Associations, and Foundations, to establish a permanent dialogue between the Social Economy and the European Institutions, changed its name and officially became Social Economy Europe in 2008.
Since its foundation, Social Economy Europe is the secretariat of the European Parliaments Social Economy Intergroup.
Social Economy Europe’s members are:
- EU members representing the main social economy forms, such as cooperatives, mutuals, association and foundations
- National umbrella social economy organisations
- EU networks engaged in the promotion of the social economy
