Eurodiaconia is pleased to invite its members and partners to its webinar on Access to Essential Services in the European Pillar of Social Rights. The webinar will take place on the 25th of October from 10 to 11 am and will be organised in cooperation with the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU).
The webinar aims at providing the participants with a better understanding of the European Pillar of Social Rights as a policy tool, as well as assessing its implementation in the area of essential services. Our partners form EPSU will join the webinar and provide a short analysis, followed by a discussion with participants. Participants will be encouraged to formulate recommendations on a better implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights with regard to access to essential services.
The European Pillar of Social Rights contains 20 principles and has been jointly proclaimed by all EU Institutions last year. Thus, all EU Institutions and the Member States have made a commitment to implement those 20 principles and to make the inherent social rights a reality for all persons legally residing on their territory. Principle 20 enshrines the right to Access Essential Services of good quality, including water, sanitation, energy, transport, financial services and digital communications, and supporting access to such services for those in need.
