On 21 October 2015, Eurodiaconia organised a hearing on the gender dimension of Roma inclusion in Brussels, in partnership with the European Roma Information Office and the European Economic and Social Committee. The aim of the conference was to raise awareness about the particularly vulnerable position of Roma women, who face discrimination on multiple levels and are confronted with even greater obstacles when it comes to education, employment, and political participation than their male counterparts. Speakers from the European Institutions, international organisations, civil society and local authorities shared insights into the current state of play, positive practices and next steps.
