On Tuesday Eurodiaconia attended the Brussels Economic Forum which is the flagship annual economic event of the European Commission.

The 2019 edition focused on the recent European elections, as well as key challenges for the European economy, such as how to build more inclusive societies in which the benefits of digitalisation and globalisation reach everyone. It was also discussed how the future growth model for Europe can reconcile economic growth and prosperity with social cohesion, fairness and sustainability and the role of the European Union in the new global order.

In the wide-ranging debates, the topics of social inclusion and tackling inequalities continually took centre-stage on the discussions. European Commissioners, business leaders and academics all stressed the importance of ensuring that growth in the EU does not come at the expense of inclusiveness.
