Earlier this month, our Armenian member the WCC Armenia Round Table Foundation held its General Annual Meeting, with the participation of important national and international actors, partners and stakeholders.

The meeting was held in the central hall of the “Karekin I” educational centre of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Participants were blessed by the words of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. Attending were religious figures from different denominations, UN officials and civil servants from foreign embassies.

The annual event this year gave the audience the opportunity to reflect on why the Round Table Foundation was founded, namely its role in reconciliation, re-establishment of peace, community development, and emergency response. This was a reminder from the Catholicos, as it is important to reflect on how much the organisation has achieved since its founding in 1996.

“Through its activities, the Foundation responds to all the issues existing in public life by trying to bring useful service to our people, based on the views and positions of the Church”, – mentioned His Holiness Karekin I. He also mentioned the Armenian – Azerbaijani projects carried out by the Foundation and its impact on communities at both sides of the border.

Dr. Karen Nazaryan, the Executive Director of the WCC ART, summed up the implemented projects of 2019 -a highly successful year-, and outlined priorities for 2020. According to Nazaryan, the foundation has implemented 38 small and large projects this year, with more than 3,000 beneficiaries.
