During May, our member Diakonie Deutschland has launched a campaign for the improvement of working conditions for care workers.
This sector has been particularly challenged during the COVID-19 pandemic, thus Diakonie Deutschland emphasises that care workers and the numerous diaconal care facilities are waiting for answers and, above all, for concrete and sustainable measures to improve their working conditions. More employees are needed in facilities and outpatient care to improve services for those in need of care. Care workers deserve relief from their hard work and genuine recognition through long-term, cross-legislative reforms.
However, this should not mean that those in need of care have to bear the additional financial burden. Therefore, in addition to structural reform, a financial reform of the long-term care insurance system is urgently needed.
