Freedom of movement in Europe and related rights regarding equal treatment have taken on a new dimension. Fuelled by the electoral campaigns for the German Federal Parliament and the European Parliament, discussions about internal migration quickly spread with the result that, in 2013, the concept of “social tourism” was declared the “un-word” of the year.
Yet freedom of movement in the EU is a success story and one of its central achievements.
