The Employment and Social affairs committee of the European Parliament adopted the initiative report of Sergio Guttiérez Prieto on the “Employment and social aspects in the Annual Growth Survey 2014”.

Eurodiaconia especially supports this report’s call for a stronger social scoreboard it states: “these indicators have not been made binding, unlike the Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure scoreboard; asks the Commission and the Member States to assess this situation in the light of the growing social and employment imbalances in the EU”.

Eurodiaconia also particularly welcomes the statement concerning the regretable “limited nature of the role of Parliament in the European Semester”

This report will be voted in plenary in February to be discussed by all the MEPs.
