As the winter temperatures in Denmark go lower, more and more people without shelter need a warm place to spend the night in. Our Danish member Kirkens Korshaer is taking steps to address this issue. It partnered with home decor retailer JYSK to donate over 1200 sleeping bags and mats to homeless people.
The initiative takes place for a fourth consecutive year and is implemented across the country.
According to official statistics, there are over 6000 homeless people in Denmark, of which 77% are men and 23% are women. About 59% of them have mental disabilities which further aggravates their already vulnerable situation.
