a roof and a bed with textOur Serbian member Philanthropy has opened a new shelter named “St. Joachim and Anna” for people in difficult life situations such as homeless people and beggars. The facility, located in the town of Kragujevac, is equipped to meet the basic needs of adults and families without a roof over their head. It can accommodate up to ten people and admission will be conducted in cooperation with local social care centers.

The situation of vulnerable and marginalised people across Europe has deteriorated since the start of the COVID pandemic. Various reports point to higher levels of poverty, unemployment, uncertainty, and loneliness. Against this background, the facilities run by our members offer a much-needed hope for fragile communities that they are not alone.
