website_cover_1 (1)On the 10th of July, the Tennis Class members of CrossReach mansion ‘The Elms’ were keen to take part in all the excitement of the Wimbledon Men’s final yesterday.

As a day trip to Wimbledon’s Murray Mound was not possible, The Elms was transformed into a local mound for the day.

The Elms’ own tennis tournament began at 10am. Residents and their families were joined by their coach, Michael Millar along with some of his coaching colleagues and students for what was a fun-filled and competitive event.

To mark the occasion a picnic was organised. Residents and visitors enjoyed the opportunity of sitting in the beautiful gardens to enjoy their tennis treats or to take their place in their own ‘centre court’ seating whilst they ate.

Before settling down to take in the Wimbledon Singles Men’s final, presentations were made to the participants and winners of this first ever local tournament.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Service Manager Kelly Ireland shared that the positive impact of the day has lingered and that even today, there continues to be a tangible buzz amongst the residents and staff.

The Elms Mansion owned by our member CrossReach provide a specialist service to older people with dementia, who can no longer live safely at home or in another residential setting.
