The Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) launched a call for initiatives under its LEED-Programme (Local Economic and Employment Development) on the integration of refuges from the initial reception to long term integration on a local level. The call aims to extract what local authorities and other actors know works, what the new scenario is demanding and how equipped they are to respond. The OECD is interested in learning from the experiences of local actors like NGOs, social economy organisations, and refugee councils. It can also include local actions and programmes organised through national and international networks.
Areas of interest are past and current examples of successful actions on helping refugees to navigate the webs of policies and programmes in a new country; actions designed to provide access to housing and health services to refugees also from a long-term perspective; actions designed to facilitate the fair employment of refugees in local job markets; actions designed to facilitate refugees’ access to education and training, support skills validation and adaptation, as well as information on initiatives to integrate children of refugees into the public education system; activities designed to inform populations on refugees, their needs and the potential for local development they represent.
The deadline for submission is April 29, 2016. For further information, please feel free to contact Florian at florian.tuder@eurodiaconia.org or the OECD office directly at Ekaterina.Travkina@oecd.org.
