In order to clarify how the available EU funding can support the reception and integration of migrants and asylum seekers in the EU, the European Commission launched the two notes ‘’Support to asylum seekers under the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD)’’ and ‘’Synergies between the Asylum Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and other EU funding instruments in relation to reception and integration of asylum seekers and other migrants’’. In fact, despite the fact that the European Union does not have primarily competence with respect to asylum seekers and migrants, it can indeed support actions by national governments, local authorities and civil society engaged in the process of encouraging integration and social cohesion.
“Support to asylum seekers under the European Social Fund and the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived’’, clarifies the differences between the two funds and provides guidance on how complementarities and synergies can be achieved. The note also outlines the scope of support that the ESF and the FEAD can offer to refugees at different stages since their arrival in one of the Member Countries.
“Synergies between the Asylum Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and other EU funding instruments in relation to reception and integration of asylum seekers and other migrants” provides a wide overview on the different EU funds and the best ways to develop synergies between them for providing appropriate reception conditions across Europe.
